At the heart of our new Citrus Almond Luxurious Body Oil is a proprietary blend of oils including four powerhouse citrus essential oils: Petitgrain, Bergamot, Sweet Orange and Tangerine.
Citrus Aurantium Amara (Petitgrain) Leaf || Petitgrain essential oil is a sweet and bitter floral with citrus undertones. The oil is derived from the fresh leaves and green twigs of the bitter orange tree (Citrus aurantium). The name petitgrain comes from this, meaning little grains. Petitgrain calms the mind while relaxing the body by soothing aches and pains and easing breathing. This essential oil rockstar also helps to clear up greasy skin, acne, and excessive perspiration all while toning the skin.
Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergaptene-free Bergamot) || Citrus bergamia is a small tree that blossoms during the winter. One hundred bergamot oranges yield about three ounces of bergamot oil. Bergamot essential oil is a refreshing, calming, balancing, and relaxing aroma that helps to relieve insomnia. The bergamot fruit is inedible, it is also the characteristic flavor of Earl Grey tea. “According to the Grey family, the tea was specially blended by a Chinese bureaucrat for Charles, 2nd Earl Grey, to suit the water at Howick. Bergamot was used in particular to offset the taste of the lime in it. Lady Grey used it to entertain in London as a political hostess and it proved so popular that she was asked if it could be sold to others.” (HowickHallGardens.org)
Citrus Sinensis (Sweet Orange) || Sweet Orange oil is obtained by cold-pressing the peel, it’s commonly known as an uplifting oil. When used topically this oil is great for mature, congested, dry, and irritated skin by working to increase collagen production. Sweet Orange oil can also work generally as an antidepressant, detoxifier, and immunity booster. Sweet Orange stimulates relaxation, making it ideal for use at the end of a long day to unwind.
Citrus Reticulala (Tangerine) || Tangerine essential oil can also be called Mandarin essential oil. There is a slight difference, mandarins are more yellow while tangerines tend to be more orange. Tangerine oil has many useful and beneficial properties. It is antiseptic, protecting wounds from becoming septic. It also protects the skin against bacterial, fungal or viral infections. The oil is great for the skin, improving circulation and increasing blood flow to the skin which works to maintain a vibrant appearance. The oil also helps maintain the moisture balance in the skin.
Note: Our Luxurious Body oils are safe for use during the summer months. There's very little essential oil, well under the amount that may cause photosensitizing effects.
